A Shopping Trip to "No Place Like Home Again"!

November 01, 2013
My favorite antique shop just moved to a new, larger location.  No Place Like Home Again now occupies an old renovated church building.  The girls did an awesome job getting the new location ready to open today, November 1.

Here is what I bought:

First this old jar of bone buttons.  I love using jars or bowls of buttons in my vignettes.

A repurposed cable knit sweater Christmas tree star.  Hand sewn.

A small, red, lantern with just the right amount of rust.  I love lanterns, and this one will be great for Christmas.

These little hand knit mittens on this old hanger are just adorable.  Great for winter and Christmas.

I have a plan for these four crocheted potholders.  You will see soon.

I bought some wooden spools of thread and vintage laces.

This was a fun little repurposed clothesline with photos.  It was made with very weathered old spindles and insulators.  They had it hanging on the wall and it was so cute and unusual.

I bought another wooden crate.  I have a crate shortage since I did my crate gallery wall.  This one has been varnished.

I got this very rusty, but cool, 1955 Minnesota license plate.

I thought this old 1940's truck would be perfect to use for decorating.  It has been repainted, but the paint is in chippy condition.

I bought another minnow bucket insert.  Last Christmas I put lights inside another one.

I got this garden fork with broken handle very cheaply.  Fun garden junk!

This is a canning jar holder in a rusty patina.

Perfect timing finding this poinsettia vintage tray,

And this one with evergreens and pine cones.

It was a super shopping experience!

  7. Wow Carlene!!
You did great! I love everything and knowing how talented you are, I can't wait to see what you do with it all. A friend and fellow blogger collected child size mittens for years. Then she strung them across a room during the holidays.
They were all different colors and very fun.
I started looking for some, but the really old fashioned ones aren't cheap.
Hey, now you got me in the mood for some antiquing and junking!

  11. I have some of the pine cone trays. I made a couple magnet boards for my daughters one year, otherwise they are just sitting waiting for the next great idea!
